The Scanlon Foundation’s Mapping Social Cohesion report for 2019 has identified climate change as a leading issue for Australians.

The report, which is the largest and longest running public survey in the country, classically poses questions around social issues such as security, migration and multiculturalism.

This year, climate change has ranked as the 2nd leading concern for 3 500 participants, behind the economy.

The result comes as no surprise to researchers, who say the issue is fiercely nuanced and topical in today’s political climate.
