Australia’s international education sector is facing potential changes as the government plans to introduce caps on international student numbers starting in January 2025.

A proposed formula introduced by the Mitchell Institute for these caps aims to protect the sector’s economic value while prioritising institutions with significant domestic enrolments and minimising disruptions to international students.

The Wire’s Alipriya Biswas spoke with Melinda Hildebrandt from Mitchell institution about how formula is designed to allow for continued growth in the sector and stabilise its future.
