The darknet – the internet’s sinister sibling, runs a roaring trade in the sale of illicit drugs.

Shoppers can anonymously browse the online marketplace where vendors are ranked according to their performance and the quality of their products. A new study has found that next to the Netherlands, Australia has more online drug vendors per capita than any other country in the world.

The darknet is difficult for police to encircle, with technology often several steps ahead of law enforcement. So what can and should be done to tackle this trade?
