As of yesterday, Malcolm Turnbull is in his most prominent role yet, leading the Federal Opposition. Turnbull first became a nationally known face back in the late 90’s when he led the movement for Australia to become a republic. This movement failed at the 1999 referendum. But now Turnbull is in charge of the Liberal party, and Kevin Rudd has already raised the possibility of bipartisan moves towards a republic.
