This morning Football Federation Australia and New Zealand Football welcomed the news that the two countries would host the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Australia and New Zealand were only up against Columbia after Japan and Brazil pulled their bids last minute.

The bid was successful after Australia and New Zealand scored 22 of the 35 valid votes.

Advocates say this good news will aid in rebuilding the Australian tourism industry post COVID-19, as well as increase female participation in sport.
