Australian private high school enrolments have jumped 70% since 2012
The latest Annual Statistical Report by Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) revealed that an increasing number of students going to private high schools over public schools, despite the significant increase of private high schools’ fees.
According to the HILDA survey parents of students who attended private schools (both at primary and high-school levels) self-rated the quality of education higher than public school parents.
Given that the access to free, good-quality education is a fundamental right in Australia. Parents should not have to pay to get a better education and any family, regardless of their income, should be able to access quality education for their children.
