The Government has been sent an overwhelming message from the opposition, the High Court and the public: no off-shore processing. So now that this side of the argument has become a reality, what exactly does this mean?
After the Malaysia swap was shut down by the High Court and amendments to the Immigration Act were also stopped, the Government has been forced to accept that it cannot implement off-shore processing. The Government has said it will make use of bridging visas to get asylum seekers into community detention and free up space in our crowded detention centres.
