Asylum seeker debate rekindled after Java tragedy

A boat of asylum seekers bound for Australia sank in heavy seas off the coast of Java overnight. Eight people are dead and up to fifteen people are still missing form the wreck. This comes as around ninety asylum seekers arrived at Christmas Island yesterday, mostly from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran.   Events have triggered more asylum seeker debate from the major parties, with Labor frontbencher Anthony Albanese accusing the Opposition of politicising the tragedy.
