Attorney General George Brandis revealed the first stage of a suite of proposed changes to our national security laws today, saying the government is determined to take whatever measures are reasonably necessary to ensure the community is protected, particularly from radicalised and militarised extremists returning from the Middle East. Brandis says our current laws are out-dated and don’t deal with the internet age, but there are concerns the new powers go too far.
