ASIO chief reveals international espionage sanctioned by Chinese Government
ASIO Director General Mike Burgess revealed at a Five Eyes intelligence summit in Palo Alto California today that his organisation had prevented an act of industrial espionage targeted at an Australian institution. Alongside his counterparts in Canada, New Zealand, the United States and the United Kingdom, this unusually public intelligence summit was a response to an event unprecedented by the Five Eyes network, and serves to drive a response to this kind of foreign industrial espionage.
Shadow Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security James Paterson spoke at Parliament this morning about the Five Eyes intelligence summit, as well as the Australian government’s reaction to this event.
