The ACCC has closed an investigation into the Aboriginal art industry, after it was unable to establish concrete evidence following claims of disappearing grants and false misrepresentation. But a new exhibition at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Centre may just be the silver lining to this dark cloud. The exhibition, entitled ‘Looking Out, Looking In’ will be unveiled in Townsville next week in a one-off display of Indigenous prisoner art and will showcase 32 pieces of artwork produced by 23 men and women at Townsville Correctional Centre. The Wire Team spoke to Jenny Pryor, trustee of the cultural centre, and Julie Dowling, acclaimed Indigenous artist.
