While we wait for the outcome of the federal election, it’s clear that there’s one group who’ve already lost – women. Our representation of females in the new parliament is likely to be only 24 percent – a drop of four percent since the last election. So are less women getting voted up, or are less women running? And what difference does it make anyway? Executive Director of Women on Boards, Clair Braund, and Chair of the Women’s Electoral Lobby, Eva Cox, say the rise of the Liberal National Party in Queensland has a lot to do with the problem.
