Are citizen juries the answer to criminal justice reform?

While surveys may give a larger sample size, respondents will often unconsciously tap into stereotypes and assumptions that are neither relevant nor accurate. Most of the public’s ideas about the criminal justice system are heavily influenced by media coverage in this area- which often looks at violent, non-remorseful offenders, with stories framed around the consequences for the victim. When given time to deliberate, and experts to question, the public finds different solutions to the same problems.
