The Federal government wants a framework on how to tackle climate change hammered out at the September APEC summit in Sydney. The plans, leaked by Greenpeace last week, would include moves to stop logging and increase energy efficiency. However, Greenpeace Australia and the Federal Greens have criticized the move, saying it doesn’t set targets for reducing greenhouse gases, adding that the move will damage the existing international framework under the Kyoto protocol. The Wire spoke with Greens Senator Kerry Nettle. We began by asking her why she had a problem with a framework that could increase energy efficiency.
