The APEC summit is under way in Sydney. Today Prime Minister has said the meeting is an opportunity for Australia to the focus of attention for some of the world’s biggest economies including China, Japan, Russia and the United States. This morning talks between business leaders from the region and around the world got under way in locked down parts of the Sydney inaccessible to those without shiny laminated passes. The business forum known as ABAC precedes the weekend forum, which will see 21 world leaders converge on the city. But after a number of non-government organizations were denied entry to the business part of the summit they decided to start their own centre in a part of the city outside the locked-down zone. The Wire went along to the International NGO media centre to find out their concerns about this year’s APEC summit. First up we spoke to Kathryn Fitzpatrick from Greenpeace.
