Prestigious medical journal, The Lancet, this week published a study reviewing scientific evidence for 14 different antidepressants in children and adolescents.

The study looked at 34 trials with more than 5,000 participants aged between nine and 18.

The major review found that antidepressants can be ineffective for a large amount of Australian children and teens.

Only one drug, fluoxetine or Prozac, was found to be more effective at relieving depression than a placebo.
