Parks Australia will be introducing a micro-wasp from Malaysia into the Christmas Island ecosystem in the near-future as a form of biological control.

The aim is to indirectly reduce the numbers of invasive Yellow Crazy Ants which are causing havoc on the island, by attacking the native Christmas Island Red Crab population.

The hope is that the wasps will reduce the food supply of the Yellow Crazy Ants by laying their eggs, and thus killing the insects they feast upon.
