Anger over deaths in custody

The community is outraged in the aftershock of yet another Aboriginal death in custody. In August 22-year-old Yamatji woman has died in a police station lock-up in South Hedland, Western Australia. Ms Dhu was first arrested for not paying parking fines and had suffered injuries that led to her death four days later.
Until now there has been little information into how Ms Dhu died and how she was treated while in custody. The wider Aboriginal community is taking a stand against deaths in custody and is calling for the government to address the high incarceration rate for Indigenous people.
