As Kim Beazley prepares to give his budget reply tonight with possibly the fate of his political future resting on the speech’s reception, the winners and losers of Peter Costellos 11th budget continue to emerge. Community Radio was amongst government sponsored projects to receive funding in line with previous years with the exemption of the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project, AMRAP, which was not selected for re-funding. Joshua Fanning spoke to Radio Adelaide’s music coordinator, Jane Costessi, who spent several years on the project. John Derr, owner and operator of Blackmarket Music says the role of community radio is not totally understood.
