Logging in Tasmania has long been on the campaigning cards for activists around Australia. And with the Gunns 20 case continuing in court today the drama isn’t stopping anytime soon. Now ears are pricking up overseas. Rainforest Action Network is a United States organisation that is setting up a worldwide awareness campaign for deforestation in Tasmania. David Lee, the Tasmania Forest Campaigner for the organisation says people around the world are getting interested because of the natural beauty embodied in Tasmania’s forests. And how is this attention being received by longtime campaigners in Australia? Geoff Law is the campaign co-ordinator for The Wilderness Society and he thinks that getting international groups involved is a positive step. But has the deforestation issue lost it’s sting with the Tasmanian people? Greg Barnes, a Tasmanian barrister says that the people are getting weary.
