With all eyes and ears on key policy decisions emerging from the APEC summit this week, Australia’s health system has taken a temporary back seat. But the Australian Medical Association is demanding greater commitment from every political party to addressing chronic problems in the system. Federal President Doctor Anna Capalingua today launched a document called Health Policy Priorities – a document for Australians to assess the health policies of every party during their election campaigns. She spoke to me today just after the launch in Canberra about the health areas the AMA thinks will sway voters. She says these areas will require more than a bandaid solution from the future government to fix.
