Today, a NSW government parliamentary environment and planning committee began a series of public hearings in the northern NSW town of Tweed Heads into the hugely popular short-term holiday rental market, powered by such websites as Airbnb and Stayz. While some say short-term rental properties are the way to go and a much needed boost for the regional tourist industry around Australia, others say they are a potential safety risk that need to be properly regulated.
