Three Vietnamese nationals, victims of the herbicide ‘Agent Orange’, have taken legal action against the American manufacturers which include the Monsanto Corporation and Dow Chemicals. Agent Orange, a highly lethal defoliant containing the long lasting poison dioxin, was used extensively by the Americans during the Vietnam War. Its been linked to birth defects, cancers and serious health problems. The case, initiated by the Vietnam Victims of Agent Orange Association, accuses the United States of committing war crimes by using the chemical against an estimated three million Vietnamese. It’s also seeking compensation for the victims and their families. Harry Billing is NSW President of the Vietnam Veterans Association. He explained to Paulina Vidal his thoughts on the Vietnamese court case.
