According to recently revealed figures, the number of reported cases of assault in nursing homes has doubled in the last reporting year. Aged Care industry representatives have played down the figures, saying that they often refer to routine matters raised by nursing home management, or incidents involving people with dementia. But some aged care advocates and academics say that these shocking statistics are only the tip of the iceberg.
