Afghan Australians held protests right across Australia yesterday voicing outrage over the freeze on Afghan claims for asylum. The protestors were all Hazaras, an ethnic minority in Afghanistan who are facing increasing attacks from the ethnic majority, the Pashtuns. They are also angry that key international players in Afghanistan are sitting on the sidelines as the violence escalates and argue Australia must make good on its humanitarian obligations.
