Alberto Cairo, ‘The angel of Kabul’ and recipient of the highest humanitarian award of the Red Cross, the Henry Dunant medal, was in Australia recently to discuss his work in Afghanistan, helping victims of the war-torn nation get fitted with prosthetic limbs and get on with their lives through their social integration program.

Those who aren’t directly wounded by the ongoing war are often maimed by land mines left from previous conflicts.
