Adelaide Writers Week controversy and the echoes of systemic violence

Over the past weeks, Australian media has been up in arms over the Adelaide Festival Writers Week programming of two Palestinian literary voices. 

Both writers have offered responses which received resounding applause from audiences at Writers Week, even as other Palestinian and First Nations writers spoke about the weight of fighting the systemic injustices often perpetuated by colonial institutions like the media.  

The Wire speaks to Palestinian writer Susan Abulhawa about the echoes this controversy has across broader systems.
