The Federal Court has found the Federal Environment Minister ignored federal environmental law with approval of Adani’s North Galilee Water Plan and has deemed the decision unlawful.

The organisation will now need to undertake significant environmental impact research to identify a suitable source for the 12.5 billion litres of water per year to service the proposed Carmichael Coal Mine in central Queensland.

The Australian Conservation Foundation says the win will protect habitat and biodiversity around the Suttor River and support farmers to access much needed water resources.
