Indian mining company, Adani has today pleaded guilty to providing false information on their 2017/18 annual report regarding land clearing to the Department of Science and Environment.

A spokeswoman said that the company’s failure to declare land clearing was due to an ‘administrative error’ which they ‘self-reported.’ However, state and federal departments only became aware of this ‘error’ when informed by the conservation group, Coast and Country.

It is the first criminal conviction Adani has received in Australia.
