400 Kangaroos around Canberra are facing a death sentence after a report released by the ACT Environment Commissioner said they had to be removed to protect native grasslands and endangered species. The Wire spoke with the report’s author, Maxine Cooper, about the dangers posed by the animals. The president of the Australian Wildlife Protection Association, Pat O’Brien, is passionately opposed to the cull, and he told the Wire that he believes once the kanagaroos are culled the land will be used for housing.
