A hip hop crew from the US has been kicked off the bill for the Big Day Out shows in Auckland after a furore over the group’s lyrics. The crew is called Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, and their lyrics of the have been slammed as homophobic and misogynist. Nothing new for hip hop, perhaps, but some say that the Odd Future crew have taken the vilification to a new level, complete with graphic descriptions of violence.

Big Day Out organizer Ken West says that under no circumstances will the band be removed from the big day out shows in Australia.There’s also a further twist to this story – one of the members of the crew is a lesbian.A warning: there’s some strong language involved in this story.
