The ACCC has accused supermarket giants Woolworths and Coles of misleading consumers over promotional discounts.

The consumer watchdog is taking both companies to federal court over allegations that they would systematically raise the prices of everyday items, before dropping them under the guise of a promotion.

This comes after months of negative media coverage and public outcry over the alleged ‘price gouging’ of products during a cost of living crisis.
