A decision has been made to close Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq and move the prisoners out of US control into a new facility under Iraqi administration. Journalist and specialist on torture in Iraq, Mark Danner, has written a number of books on human rights and is currently in Adelaide for writer’s week. He isn’t surprised by the move and thinks that America will continue to sanction tortuous methods for prisoners.
