A damning report released today reveals the extent of over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in the prison system. The report released by the Human Rights Law Centre and the Change the Record Coalition shows Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women are 21 times more likely to be imprisoned than non-Aboriginal women. They also found the majority of these women are mothers.
