Indigenous sports stars have joined in the fight against Leukemia today – signing up for the Red Cross’s Bone marrow Donor Registry in Sydney. hampion boxer Anthony Mundine has joined NRL stars Owen Craigie and Lee Hookey in response to an appeal by the Metropolitan Land Council urging more aboriginal people to register as Bone Marrow Donors. The apeal was launched after a local aboriginal boy was diagnosed with Leukemia and received a bone marrow transplant in March this year. Information from the Red Cross shows people from the same racial background provide the best matches – but at the moment, there are nor enough indigenous donors. Craig Egert talked with Anthony Mundine after the sign-up.
