The great debate about mining in North Queensland has reared its ugly head again before the Federal Government’s decision on the proposed development of Abbot Point Coal Port.

Abbot is a name we all know very well but this week its making different headlines for reasons other than those we see on the front page. The new development proposed for Abbot Point Coal Port in North Queensland will make it the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. That’s if the Federal Government approves it. Despite the development receiving local support via social media, environmental groups have heavily lobbied and protested against the proposed plan to expand the port.
