In 1851, Edward Hargraves discovered a ‘grain of gold’ in a waterhole near Bathurst in New South Wales. It started the Australian Gold Rush, which had an enormous effect on the country’s economy and development as a nation. By the end of the 1950’s the gold dried up and Australia’s gold era was over. But could the 21st Century be the beginning of a new Australian gold rush?
