Child obesity is a hot topic and this week Mark Latham pledged Labor support for a total ban on TV food advertising to children. Prime Minister Howard dismissed the call and said it was akin to banning Panadol. Coalition Against Food Advertising to Children spokesperson Kay Mehta said the fast food companies may soon have to accept that there is a global movement against such advertising, similar to what happened with cigarettes and being led by the World Health Organisation.
