A call for indigenous doctors to lead
Malignant grief and a call to leadership- both are among many items on the agenda at the Indigenous Doctors Forum this week in Cairns. Around 50 indigenous doctors are at the conference which includes health researcher, medical students and experts from across the pacific. Kerry Klimm interviewed Prof. Lowitja O’Donohue, former ATSIC Chair Professor O’Donohue who says indigenous communiites need to be made aware of Australia’s 56 indigenous doctors. She also voiced her anger over ATSIC’S abolishment and addressed the serious need of indigenous unity. Kerry also spoke to Perth based psychiatrist, Dr Helen Milroy and a recent medical graduate from the University of Newcastle, Dr Ray Gadd.
