The Australian apple industry is in uproar following the decision to lift a 90 year ban on New Zealand apple imports. It comes after the World Trade Organisation ruled Australia’s quarantine measures were no longer supported by science. Biosecurity Australia argues fire blight and other diseases are now a manageable concern but the apple industry is not convinced strong enough measures have been put in place.
