82-year-old Aboriginal Elder arrested for protesting forest logging

An 82-year-old Aboriginal elder and long-time activist has been released on bail following his arrest for allegedly trespassing on ancestral lands.

Uncle Jim Everett was arrested during a protest against native forest logging in Tasmania. Uncle Jim’s arrest comes at a time when tensions are high in Tasmania over native forest logging and land rights issues.

The Wire’s contributor from Ngaarda Media Asad Khan spoke with Uncle Jim Everett after his release and why this issue is so important to him.
