Over 500 not for profits large and small have had their charity status revoked by the charities regulator for failing to submit information over the past two years.
The Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission says they had given the affected groups multiple warnings about the need to comply with their obligations under the law.
One notable revocation is of the Australian Indigenous Chamber of Commerce, founded by Chair of the federal government’s Indigenous Advisory Council Warren Mundine to facilitate business relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous companies.
