Celebrations are taking place across the Northern Rivers of New South Wales today as the community farewells Metgasco. It’s been a long battle between residents, the government and the gas company who have been explorating CSG in the area for 18 years. The news comes as the government is offering to pay the gas giant $25 million for their remaining three exploration licenses in the region. While the acceptance of the deal lies in the hands of the company’s share holders, activists in the area are happy to see the company frack off once and for all.
