143,000 struck off electoral roll

Last night the electoral roll officially closed, meaning that anyone still not enrolled has now missed out on their chance to vote at the upcoming election. This includes the 143,000 voters struck from the electoral roll because the Australian Electoral Commission was unable to verify where they lived. Alice Monfries spoke with Bernadette O’Mara from the AEC about the attempts that were made to locate these people before they were struck from the roll, and Ed Caper of GetUp, an independent political movement aimed at getting people to vote.
