Social housing in Melbourne. Image by David Jackmanson on Flickr

Data from the Australian Health and Welfare Institute shows that homelessness in young Australians increased 83 per cent over the last three years. Families with low income are getting more homelessness support services. These numbers come after the Federal government wants to axe $1.3 billion from the affordable housing scheme. Homelessness advocates are concerned about it.

On April 5, the Youth Homelessness Matters Day will raise awareness, and push the government to fund a national homelessness service.
