Prime Minister Julia Gillard revealed the government’s official response to the Gonski report on education funding today. With promises to lift Australia’s performance to be in the top five of international student performance tests, some indigenous education advocates feel that the specific needs of Indigenous students are not being met. It’s still unclear what policy shifts will adequately address these needs, and whether they will be part of the new funding model when it is implemented.
