A report by the Australian government has found that asbestos in and around remote Indigenous Communities in the Northern Territory is a widespread problem.

The cost for managing and removing asbestos from remote communities is up to three times higher than other parts of Australia.

The Commonwealth and the Nothern Territory Government have taken responsibility for the problem, but have yet to decide who will foot the bill.
