Joyce Clarke, a 29-year-old Yamatji woman from WA was shot dead by police officers whilst walking the streets with a knife. Clarke had suffered mental health issues and had recently been released from prison at the time of the incident.

Police are now conducting investigations as to whether the police officer responsible for shooting her had used appropriate force.

This has ignited racial tensions within WA making locals question whether police value the lives of Indigenous people?
