Waste industry pledges to send trash back to its source

After revelations of illegal practices in the waste industry, the peak body is calling on members to commit themselves to stop transfers across state lines ahead of government action on the problem.
The Pledge of Origin will require members of the Waste Management Association of Australia to process waste as close as possible to where it came from and refrain from transporting it ‘unnecessarily long distances’.
