Protesters in France threw petrol bombs during rallies marking the international workers’ holiday of May Day.

One police officer received third degree burns and at least four others were injured in confrontations with masked protesters.

With only days to go until the French Presidential election a number of May Day marchers used the event to protest against the far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen.
